True Grit

I love it when I am surprised by Hollywood and this movie is just that, a pleasant surprise. A 4.5 of 5 on the Taleen scale, True Grit is well worth your hard earned money.

Young Hailee Steinfeld plays a 14 year old girl who hires a Marshall to hunt down her father’s killer. She is determined to accompany him and see that the job is done properly. I have not see this young star in anything before this movie but I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more of her. She was spectacular in this role. Her delivery was exceptional and her timing perfect. She showed the poise of a truly weathered Hollywood star. For me she was the brightest star in the movie.

Jeff Bridges with his whiskey soaked, cowboy drawl was hard to understand, but didn’t hamper my understanding of the movie. When it comes out on DVD I will have to watch it with the sub titles on and see just what the heck he was saying the whole movie.

This movie is surprisingly funny, which I did not expect. Full of witty one liners that you never see coming. This movie has it all; beautiful scenery, a great storyline, drama, surprise, and humor. I have not seen the original movie starring John Wayne but I hope to get the time to check it out.

  1. Just watched this with the hubby a couple nights ago, it was a very good movie. Liked it a lot! My hubby tried watching the original, and after seeing the remake was not able to finish the original. Good luck!
